Renting a villa in Fitou with a heated pool and sea view
Fitou is one of those villages in the Aude that travellers sometimes drive straight through, without knowing what it hides. Perched between the Corbieres hills and the Mediterranean, it gathers everything you come looking for in the South of France: vineyards, garrigue scrubland, coastal lagoons, and the sea only minutes away. Renting a villa in Fitou with a heated pool and sea view means enjoying that double nature, countryside and coast, without having to choose.
Why a heated pool matters
On the Languedoc coast, the swimming season can start well before summer and stretch late into September. The catch is water temperature. That is exactly where a heated pool makes the difference: it extends the season from May to September, turns a spring weekend into a real summer break, and makes early mornings by the water far more pleasant.
Our villa goes one step further with a sliding terrace that covers the pool. It plays two roles: it protects the water outside swimming hours, and it brings genuine safety for families with children. You enjoy the pool when you decide to, and close it again when you head inside.
A villa designed for eight
The villa offers 130 square metres and four bedrooms, sleeping up to eight guests. Three bedrooms have large double beds, while a fourth is designed for children with a trundle bed. The living space opens onto a fitted kitchen and extends outside onto a raised wooden terrace overlooking the landscape.
It is an ideal layout for two families, a group of friends or a family gathering. Everyone keeps their own space, and everyone comes together around the outdoor table or by the water, with the sea as a backdrop.
What to do around Fitou
Fitou's strength is its location. A few minutes by car take you to:
- The beaches of Leucate and La Franqui, long and windswept, perfect for walking as much as for swimming.
- One of the largest kitesurf spots in Europe, drawing riders from April to October.
- The Fitou AOC vineyards, one of the oldest wine appellations in Languedoc, ideal for a tasting.
- The trails of the Corbieres, between garrigue, old vine huts and viewpoints over the lagoons.
For culture and food, Narbonne and its covered market, the oyster lagoons of Leucate and the hilltop villages easily round out a week-long stay.
When to come
Each season has its own character. Spring (April to June) offers soft light, green landscapes and more affordable rates: it is the favourite time for those who love the region without the crowds. Summer (July and August) is high season, lively, perfect for long days by the pool and evenings on the terrace. Autumn (September and October) prolongs the mildness, with grape harvests in the vineyards and a sea that is still warm.
Thanks to the heated pool, the villa stays appealing for much of the year, well beyond the summer window alone.

An unusual, ecological address
One last distinctive feature, and not the least: the villa is built from recycled shipping containers. A flat-roofed contemporary design, born from a circular approach, gives the place an identity that is unique on the coast. You come for the pool and the sea view, and you leave with the memory of a different kind of design, understated and full of light.
